Shiba Inu joined the cryptocurrency game in August 2020, and the world of cryptocurrency is perpetually growing. Over the last few years meme cryptocurrencies have been constantly pushed out. As a result, it can be difficult to stand out in such a saturated market, however, Shiba Inu has managed to sit pretty at the top for a while now. Shiba Inu is a meme cryptocurrency that was developed in August 2020, by a developer going under the pseudonym, ‘Ryoshi’. It is an ERC-20 token and according to their website they fancy themselves as the ‘Dogecoin Killer’. But perhaps Shiba Inu should be less concerned about Dogecoin and more concerned about HUH Token who is being dubbed as the potential Shiba Inu Slayer.

Shiba Inu appears as SHIB and can be bought across several exchanges. The popularity of SHIB has been gradual but consistent in growth, until recently where it has spiked due to the influence of Elon Musk. The Tesla CEO has been very vocal in his support for cryptocurrencies such as Dogecoin, Baby Doge and Shiba Inu. Mr Musk recently tweeted “My Shiba Inu will be named Floki,” and this tweet alone increased the Shiba Inu price up by 25%. Social media influence is power, and influencers have in some ways become similar to currency. And while Shiba Inu is a great example of how social media, and those who hold influence over their followers, can potentially affect cryptocurrency market price. This is often done through memes which many see as a source of entertainment. This could lead to a good reputation, but not being taken seriously as an investment.
