Enter Fiverr…

Fiverr is a place where freelancers can advertise ‘gigs’ and get hired on a project per-project basis.

It allows the average person to be hired for projects for a fee.

So about a month ago I decided to develop a gig on Fiverr. I published my gig and waited to see what happened.

After two weeks nothing happened. I was so disheartened.

However, I decided to give it another go.

I started to optimise my gig, work on SEO, fixing up the gig title and description. Also I was uploading an introductory gig video and I paid someone to do a professional gig photo.

Within a few day’s I was contacted by someone who wanted some health articles. So I negotiated with him and I ended up landing my first gig. This was not a small order but a large order so I was extremely grateful for it.

So how did I manage to do this? Lets break it down into some easy steps….

When starting out I suggest you do the following:

• create a gig around something you are passionate about — brainstorm on what are your passions and strengths and create a gig based around that
• create a title which describes what you do — create a catchy title which describes your gig perfectly
• create a description which explains why you are the perfect freelancer for the job — describe in detail why you are the right fit
• record a quality gig video explaining your expertise — make sure the video is clear and easy to watch
• add tags that are right for your target audience — for example for blog posts add a blog post or blogging as a tag

These are the steps I would take when getting started with Fiverr. But there are other things you should pay attention to you as well.

Make sure when you get inquiries from customers to respond quickly to them. Fiverr rates gigs based on your response time. If you respond quickly this will show up on your profile and you will rank better in Fiverr search.

Also you need to price your gigs competitively to ensure you actually get inquiries. So this means lowering your prices when you start out.

You need to build your reputation so this means you need to collect testimonials and ratings on fiverr. Where possible you need to get as many 5 star ratings as you can.

To do this you need to deliver a quality service to your customers. So this means, setting realistic timelines for delivery and keeping in contact with your customer throughout the gig.

Send your customer regular updates and inform them of what you are working on. They will appreciate this and when it comes to getting feedback from the customer the chances that it will be positive will be high.

There are many other things I could cover here but I don’t want to overwhelm you. The things I have mentioned above will get you started on Fiverr and will help you in providing a rock-solid service to your customers. The overall goal is to get repeat customers because your service is just so damn good and, this is very possible with some old-fashioned hard work.
