Top 10 safest places to travel in 2021

Even though there are still significant restrictions in traveling abroad, some countries managed to handle the Covid-19 pandemic better than some others and are currently considered as safest. These countries may be the first choice for travelers this summer if the implemented restrictions relax more.

1. Iceland
   If someone wants to travel to Iceland, he has to know that travel restrictions apply to all third-country nationals. Everyone arriving in the country shall be tested at the borders, quarantine for five days, and undergo a second test upon his departure from the country. Iceland ranked first on the 2020 Global Peace Index.
2. New Zealand
   New Zealand has successfully handled the Covid-19 crisis. Entering New Zealand from all countries remains strictly controlled. Travelers who are not currently in a quarantine-free travel zone, still have to go through managed isolation. Of course, for most of New Zealand’s visitors is required a negative Covid-19 test result. New Zealand ranked second on the 2020 Global Peace Index.
3. Portugal
   In Portugal after the 30th of April will start the lift of lockdown restrictions that were implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This will take place in 4 phases. As far as tourism is concerned, Turismo de Portugal implemented the “Clean & Safe” seal, allowing tourists to have greater security and confidence in the use of accommodation establishments, in the various tourist services and tourist attractions. After all, Portugal ranked third on the 2020 Global Peace Index.
4. Canada
   Canada was rated as the safest destination for travelers in 2021. This conclusion comes from a recent survey conducted by travel insurance company Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. Canada is one of those regions around the world that has some of the strictest travel and border measures. Travelers entering the country are forced to a mandatory 14 – day quarantine period. On April 22, Canada announced that passenger flights from India and Pakistan are banned for 30 days.
5. Switzerland
   Switzerland made a huge effort to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Americans are free to travel there but not for tourism. Switzerland was rated as the 5th safest destination for travelers in 2021 by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection while comes 10th on the 2020 Global Peace Index.
6. Italy
   Italy was the first country in Europe that was called to face the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Italy managed to come out of this bad situation as well as other European countries. Italy was rated as the 8th safest destination for travelers in 2021 by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. Lazio, Molise, Toscana, Umbria, Veneto and more are the regions into the yellow area while Basilicata, Calabria, Puglia, Sicilia and Valle Aosta are the regions into the orange area.
7. Ireland
   Ireland some days ago decided to relax the Covid-19 restrictions. Also, in June is likely to open hotels, guest houses, and B&Bs. However, people are still restricted to travel only within their own county or 20 kilometers from their home. Ireland was rated as the 9th safest destination for travelers in 2021 by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection while comes 12th on the 2020 Global Peace Index.
8. Singapore
   Singapore implements general entry measures for travelers. Also, special travel arrangements apply for some countries such as China and Malaysia, to facilitate travel. Visitors from Brunei Darussalam and New Zealand can apply for an Air Travel Pass (ATP) to enter Singapore. Furthermore, Singapore ranked 7th on the 2020 Global Peace Index.
9. Thailand
   Thailand is currently considered as one of the safest destinations on the planet as far as Covid-19 is concerned. Arriving in Thailand, travelers get a Health Beware Card with advice on what they should do in case they don’t feel well.
10. Taiwan
    Taiwan is another place with a low-risk level Covid-19. The country had a total of eleven deaths as of 11 April 2021, a rate of 0.042 deaths per 100,000 people. The way that Taiwan handled the pandemic received international praise for its effectiveness in quarantining people and widespread testing. There is an increase in domestic tourism in  Penghu as there are restrictions for foreign travelers entering the country.
