How the buying process works

Selecting the right domain for your business or blog is a big commitment. If you're not familiar with HugeDomains, this page provides basic information for first-time customers regarding the buying process.

What happens when you purchase a domain name from HugeDomains.com?

HugeDomains is the registered owner of every domain listed for sale on our site. When you purchase a domain from us, you are purchasing exclusive registration rights to that domain.

Once payment has been received, 3 things happen:

  • We have the current registrar (NameBright.com) create a new account for the buyer.
  • Next, we request that the domain be transferred to the buyer's account.
  • Finally, we'll relinquish control of the domain. The buyer will in turn become the new registrant of the domain, and will assume full control of the domain. *

In most cases access to the domain will be available within one to two hours of purchase, however access to domains purchased after business hours will be available within the next business day.

* When a domain is purchased on a payment plan, a registrar lock is placed on the domain until all payments have been made. This registrar lock prevents transfers.

How does domain ownership work?

Once a domain has been transferred into the buyer's account, the registrar provides several basic services.

The registrar maintains ownership records with the domain registry and ensures that you will retain registration rights to your domain name for as long as you agree to pay registration fees for the domain.

Additionally, the registrar provides the domain management platform that enables you to use your domain. To manage Whois, DNS, URL Forwarding, or other domain name features, contact your registrar.

As the owner of your domain, you have the choice of registering your domain with any registrar.
