当地时间5月1日，美军开始从阿富汗撤军，把塔利班还有当地给美军做翻译的阿富汗人一起留在了阿富汗。
数十名为美军做翻译工作的阿富汗人表示，他们担心美军回国后他们会成为塔利班的袭击目标。他们敦促美国方面不要把他们留在阿富汗。
据法新社（AFP）网站5月1日报道，在撤军前几天，为联军工作的阿富汗翻译员每天都会在午祷后聚集在阿富汗喀布尔的一个社区，抗议联军未履行保护他们的承诺。一些翻译抱怨说，他们与美国和北约部队的许多合同都突然终止了。
前几年，数千名阿富汗翻译在获得美国和其他北约国家的签证后离开了阿富汗。但近年来，这些国家已经不再开放新的许可。（来源）
