疫情期间，许多企业推行了远程办公政策以减少社交接触。这一措施实际上能节省企业大量的钱，如线下的推广活动减少了，商务旅行也没有了，集体性的交际活动也不办了，等等。根据 Google 的文件，第一季度因为疫情相关的措施而节省了 2.68 亿美元。如果按照一年计算，那么搜索巨人能省下超过 10 亿美元。Alphabet/Google 在今年初公布的年度报告中称，2020 年广告和推广开支减少了 14 亿美元，商务旅行和业务招待费减少了 3.71 亿美元。
