The SOVRYN Ethereum Bridge on the Testnet

The SOVRYN Ethereum Bridge on our Testnet is a fork (derivative) of the RSK ETH Bridge. It allows easy and permissionless transfers of your assets from one sidechain to another like BTC to the RSK Network (rBTC) to any SOVRYN Individual.

PLEASE NOTE! This is a test version of our future Ethereum bridge. We would ask you to test it as extensive as you can. Tell us about your experience there on the discord channel #user-feedback.

What you need to start testing

You would need to set up a RSK Testnet on your Web3 wallet. We have a guide for that for Metamask here.

Become a whale on your Testnet address with rWBTC, rBTC and rRENBTC through the SOVRYN faucet and start rolling all over our testnet bridge!

You can also get Kovan-ETH on your testnet wallet here and send it through the bridge. As well as sending your rBTC from the RSK Testnet to Kovan. Finaly no monetary limitation in trading!! Kind of…

Additions in the SOVRYN Ethereum Bridge

The SOVRYN ETH Bridge fork has implemented changes to improve its usability and convenience. Those are:

  • the ability to define a different receiver instead of only transferring your asset total to the address initiating the transfer. This means you can transfer your assets through the bridge and send the result to a different wallet address in a single motion.
  • the ability to let the bridge interact directly with a smart contract. As an example you can deposit into a liquidity pool from ETH in just one click.
  • the removal of the maximal transaction limits.
    • You can transfer as big of an amount as you like in a single transaction, as long as it is over the minimum transaction limit ("not yet specified").
  • the removal of the 24h confirmation time. Instead your conversion time depends on the asset amount being transferred through the bridge.
    • Small amounts get processed almost immediately.
    • Larger ones have to wait a bit longer for a confirmation before being processed.

How to use the SOVRYN Ethereum Bridge on the Testnet

To use the SOVRYN Ethereum bridge, you would need a Web3 wallet set up in your browser. If you have not yet set up such a wallet, follow this guide.

1. Connect your wallet to the bridge.connect_wallet_bridge.png 2. Choose the starting chain network, asset and the amount you want to transfer through the bridge.starting_chain_bridge.png 3. Check the amount of transferred assets you will receive and the gas fee.

If you want to enter a different receiving address than the wallet address you are initiating the transfer from: Click Receive at external address and fill it in.

4. Click on Transfer to send your assets through the bridge.
