Just eight book in 2018. A new low I think. The best book of the year would be between Larry Niven’s Ringworld, Greg Bear’s Hull Zero Three and Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Last Wish. If pressed I’d go with Ringworld as being the best read of 2018. Which is odd, given that I actually bought the book back in the early 1990s and started reading it back then and gave up. It is strange how things change over time. In a way it kinda makes my remembered history of liking things from years ago rather suspect. If I love a book now that I once disliked 30 years ago, will I now dislike a lot of the books I remember loving years ago if I re-read them?

Whilst quantity of books may have been on the low side, the quality of books certainly made up for the lack of quantity.

On the non-fiction side, Guy de la Bedoyere’s book on Roman Britain was excellent if a little dry.
