Binance Conducts Virtual Law Enforcement Workshop in Taiwan
Binance trains Taiwan law enforcement and aids crypto safety amid the push for regulation.
Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, recently conducted a virtual assets law enforcement workshop for officers from Taiwan’s Keelung District Prosecutors Office.
The move underscores Binance’s commitment to enhancing safety within the web3 ecosystem and fostering a secure user environment.
Binance’s Global Law Enforcement Training for Crypto Security
The virtual training session announced on Mar. 13, is part of Binance’s ongoing Global Law Enforcement Training Program, facilitating over fifty specialized workshops worldwide. The program aims to equip law enforcement personnel with the necessary knowledge and tools to tackle digital asset-related crimes effectively.
Binance’s engagement with Taiwanese authorities dates back to June 2023, when it collaborated with the Criminal Investigation Bureau to train over 200 officers in investigating cryptocurrency offenses. This partnership comes amid heightened scrutiny of the crypto sector in Taiwan following the recent crackdown on local exchange ACE over allegations of a multi-million dollar cryptocurrency scam.
Taiwan’s government has realized that a complete set of cryptocurrency regulations is needed. In March, the government said it would introduce strict controls over local and foreign cryptocurrency entities by Sept. 2024. This was done to prevent fraud and keep the financial markets stable.
Huang Tianzhu, chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission, was worried about keeping virtual assets out of the real economy and the risks of uncontrolled investments. He said we must establish a robust regulatory environment to safeguard investors and maintain market integrity.
Binance is committed to promoting a safe and legal cryptocurrency environment, as shown by its proactive approach to working with law enforcement agencies worldwide.
