Hi Everyone,
Currently there is limitation in SAC on Live Models that we cannot create Calculated Dimensions in the story level. Only we can create calculated measures. But one of our users wants to create Dimensions based on If condition in SAC. Is there any other option or workaround to achieve this? Like we can create separate model with master data required to create If condition from Excel file and then link these 2 models(Live model & Flat file based model) in the story and create this calculation in the story and use it with the columns from the live model? With this approach we cannot use dimensions from both the models in a single visual.
So, is there is any other workaround to get this logic work.

As you mentioned this is a limitations. Unfortunately you options with live connection are limited
Option 1 : Easiest and quickest option for live DS is to perform this change at the source.
Option 2: Try creating an import model (instead of file) with common linking filed. Implement the if logic in model (assuming it doesn't required checking values from live model). Link live and import model at story level. See if this works for your requirement.
Option 3 : Model based joining would allow you to combine data sources and get around this limitation of showing dimensions form both side. Although joining live model at model level requires data provider setup (SDI) Is it possible to create a model that joins other two models in SAP Analytics Cloud?. This option takes multiple one time configuration.
Calculated dimensions on live connection is requested by may customers already, with enough vote SAP may consider this enhancement. You can vote here-
