Network-as-a-Service platform Console Connect demonstrated its Edge SIM with Vultr at the 2024 MWC in Barcelona.
Console Connect said Edge SIM provides mobile connectivity solution that bypasses the public internet and instead routes traffic via an automated, secure private network.
Console Connect claimed Edge SIM is one of the only fully multi cloud-enabled solutions of its kind, enabling businesses to self-provision direct connections between their devices and more than 10 leading cloud platforms worldwide.
Edge SIM addresses the need for more secure access to the cloud.
The solution is a strong fit for critical IoT applications such as asset management, logistics, connected cars, payment networks and POS devices, live broadcasting, healthcare solutions, and security systems.
“With coverage across over 180 countries worldwide, Edge SIM provides greater visibility, security and control over global IoT assets and gives businesses a direct path between their connected devices and the cloud,” said Console Connect senior vice president mobility Emmanuel Bain.
Console Connect partnered with Vultr in 2023. Today, the NaaS platform offers reach to 8 Vultr cloud data centre locations worldwide.
Using Edge SIM, businesses can easily integrate their connected devices with any of these Vultr cloud locations to access Vultr cloud compute, Cloud GPU, Bare Metal, and cloud storage solutions.

Today, we are thrilled to add global connectivity support for private 5G connections by integrating Edge SIM into the Vultr platform,” said Vultr chief marketing officer Kevin Cochrane.
Console Connect lists the features of the Edge SIM including:
- Edge SIM ensures mobile traffic is not exposed to the public internet by passing traffic from a mobile gateway directly to a virtual private Layer 3 network, which businesses can provision and control in real-time through the Console Connect management portal.
- It offers direct connections to AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Vultr, OVHcloud, Stackpath and more. Businesses can manage both their mobile connectivity and cloud connectivity payments via the Console Connect platform.
- It is an extension of Console Connect’s CloudRouter solution. With the addition of a Console Connect Access Port, businesses can also link their devices to enterprise locations and network environments, including data centres, Wide Area Networks (WAN) and last mile access.
