Cloud security startup Menlo Security Inc. today announced a new cloud-delivered enterprise browser solution that includes new capabilities to enable safe and simple hybrid work with zero-trust access.

The new Menlo Security Enterprise Browser solution, built on elements of the Menlo Secure Cloud Browser, is offered on a software-as-a-service basis. The solution is designed to deliver a comprehensive approach to enterprise browser security, protecting users where they work and securing applications from attacks.

The solution delivers end-to-end visibility and dynamic policy enforcement directly inside browser sessions and blocks zero-hour phishing, malware and ransomware attacks, according to the company. Through the combination of benefits from the Menlo Secure Cloud Browser and the new capabilities, the Menlo Enterprise Browser solution is claimed to provide unparalleled protection against the most advanced and evasive threats, no matter what browser users choose.

The new capabilities include the ability to manage local browser security policies within Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, protect users with the Menlo Secure Cloud Browser, secure access to applications and protect associated data down to the last mile.

The Menlo Security Browser Posture Manager leads the list of new capabilities, providing easy browser configuration assessment and instant attack surface analysis. The manager automates browser policy management and allows administrators to define policies for browsers and deploy them instantly. Menlo Security Posture Manager also works with Microsoft InTune to set browser policies and enables compliance with Center for Internet Security Benchmarks for browsers.

Two new features, the Menlo Browser Extension and Menlo Security Client, extend zero-trust access to more users, devices and applications. The Menlo Browser Extension supports unmanaged devices and adds a self-service deployment option and the Menlo Security Client enables cloud-based access to legacy applications, going beyond web applications for users that need support for SSH and RDP.

The final new capability, Menlo Security Last-Mile Data Protection, is said to go beyond traditional data loss protection technology by applying protection in the cloud that extends copy-paste control, user-input limits, watermarking and data masking to the endpoint. Last-mile DLP protects against releasing unprotected information to the local browser endpoints and stops it from being leaked into web applications such as ChatGPT.

“Every enterprise needs a solution that enables secure browsing – many employees spend 75% of their work day in a browser,” said Amir Ben-Efraim, chief executive officer and co-founder of Menlo Security. “Traditional security approaches have had their chance. These markets have been developing for 25 years. In the network, we have this byzantine labyrinth of controls and the endpoint is evermore hotly contested ground.”

Ben-Efraim added that with the launch today, Menlo Security has “delivered the industry’s first cloud-delivered secure enterprise browser solution” that “transforms any browser into a secure enterprise browser, adding the local browser into a layered security architecture by managing it with a curated security policy and creating a digital twin of the browser in the cloud.”
