During an onboarding process, we will have scenarios where the I9 steps need to be re-triggered. There could be multiple reasons why we need that – It can be the onboardee selected the wrong documents to provide for validation?

In this blog post, I shall share how the I9 steps (I9 Step 1 & I9 Step 2) can be re-triggered.

Configuration Steps:

Manage Data

Goto Manage data. In Create New, enter Trigger i-9 flow

In the User field, enter the name of the onboardee for whom you want to trigger the I9 process.

Enter the reason for triggering the flow

Create a record in Manage Data: Trigger I9 flow

In the field Trigger Type, select the process you need to trigger.

In the field Correct Form I-9 reason, enter the reason for re-triggering.

In the field Process, enter the Onboarding ID of the onboardee for whom you are re-triggering this process.

Click Save.

Note: You need to do this configuration for every onboardee for whom you have to re-trigger the process.

Conclusion:

My experience has been, this process of re-triggering need to be used sparingly only if absolutely required/necessary. Onboarding i9/compliance have many moving parts, and few of them are product releated. As I tweeted couple of weeks back, updates are expected in the upcoming b2205 release which will mitigate these issues.

The Onboarding module is robust and have workaround to support the process till the patches are made available.
