Subreports disappear in Crystal 2020 when linking .mdb via OLE DB (ADO)

I thought I successfully migrated from Crystal 11 to Crystal 2020 using OLE DB ADO, as the prior method to connect MS Access (.mdb) is not available in 2020. When I go through the extra steps to re-link the crystal to the .mdb data file via OLE in set location, it works for main report and it seems to work for the first subreport, but then each subsequent link attempt deletes the subreport path in the set location and removes the entire sub report from the report. It looks like it's putting all the fields in each subreport into a single subreport. There must be another way or something that I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, potentially looking for a Crystal consultant.
