Samsung unveils S24 smartphone models powered by Google's AI Featured

Samsung has unveiled its new range of smartphones, the Galaxy S24, powered by Google's AI, at a function held in San Jose, California overnight.
There are three phones in the range: the S24, the S24 Ultra and the S24+. Samsung says it is the first Google Cloud partner to use Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex Ai through the cloud on smartphones.
Janghyun Yoon, corporate executive vice-president and head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said: “Google and Samsung have long shared deeply held values around the importance of making technology more helpful and accessible for everyone. We’re thrilled that the Galaxy S24 series is the first smartphone equipped with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI.
“After months of rigorous testing and competitive evaluation, the Google Cloud and Samsung teams worked together to deliver the best Gemini-powered AI experience on Galaxy.”
On Samsung-native applications, users could take advantage of the summarisation feature across Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard.

The company claimed Gemini Pro on Vertex AI provided critical Google Cloud features, including security, safety, privacy, and data compliance.
Imagen 2, Google’s most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology will allow Samsung to provide intuitive photo-editing capabilities. These features can be found in Generative Edit2 in S24’s Gallery application.
“Together with Samsung, Google Cloud sees the tremendous opportunity for generative AI to create meaningful mobile experiences that stimulate and strengthen connection and communication for millions,” said Google Cloud chief executive Thomas Kurian.
“With Gemini, Samsung’s developers can leverage Google Cloud’s world-class infrastructure, cutting-edge performance, and flexibility to deliver safe, reliable, and engaging generative AI-powered applications on Samsung smartphone devices.”
Samsung also told the assembled media that the S24 Ultra devices would come with the new Corning Gorilla Armor cover material.
Kwangjin Bae, executive vice-president and head of the Mechanical R&D Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said: "Corning’s Gorilla Glass, together with the Galaxy S series, have driven innovation and made significant progress towards achieving greater durability.
“This partnership has made it possible for people to use our products with confidence and peace of mind.”
