Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders

a point-and-click mystery

2024-01-05

The game for today is Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders. It's a point-and-click mystery where you play Hercule Poirot and solve mysteries by investigating crime scenes, interigating people, and thinking about clues.

You investigate scenes by moving the mouse over certain things. Sometimes you manipulate objects that are puzzles to solve.

Interigating people involves choosing what to say. You can make people more upset or cooperative, but you always seem to get what you need regardless of what you say. The only difference in what you say may be if you act more like Poirot you get more "ego" points. No idea what you can do with those.

Thinking about the clues involve taking clues and trying to match them up with the correct other clues to come to a conclusion.

The game came out in 2016, but the graphics look like they're from 2003. Cel-shading and stiff animation. It reminds me of XIII. But that's a game I liked, so the graphics aren't really an issue for me.

I liked this game. I haven't read Agatha Christie, so maybe you'd like it even more if you're a fan.

I'm currently reading KitchenWise by Shirley O. Corriher. It's on food science. Unlike traditional cookbooks that just teach you the how, this book teaches you the why. So you can apply this knowledge more broadly and can figure things out yourself like your chicken might stick to the pan, or why your meringue shrinks.
