Fuel supply stabilizes as transporters end strike following government assurance
- Truck drivers ended their strike after the central government assured them that a new law on hit-and-run cases would be implemented after consultation with the transporter community.
- The strike had been in protest against the new law, Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, which mandates penalties of Rs 7 lakh and a 10-year imprisonment for hit-and-run accidents.
- Although fuel supply has returned to normal at many refuelling stations, some areas are still awaiting restoration of supply.
