Sports payment technology company Clubfunders and cashback shopping platform, PokitPal have partnered in a deal they say will mean that sports club memberships will become cheaper and more affordable.
“The innovative and unique partnership is a Cash Back Membership Payment solution and represents a win-win opportunity where fans are financially empowered, and clubs receive continuous monetary support,” the two companies said.
Under the agreement, cashback from PokitPal’s merchant partners will be automatically and seamlessly linked to their nominated club to reduce the upfront cost of a club membership and daily expenses.
Blake Lawrence, CEO of Gold Coast-based Clubfunders, said the partnership with PokitPal will ease financial pressures on families, fans, and members while bolstering support for their favourite sports club.
Lawrence highlighted up to 80% of sports clubs forecast ongoing reductions in core revenue streams such as memberships, local sponsorships, and community fundraising.
“In these challenging economic times with high interest rates and high inflation, consumers are cutting back on non-essential expenses, leading to a decline in professional sports club memberships,” said Lawrence.
“However, the Clubfunders-Pokitpal partnership offers much-needed relief from the ever-increasing costs of living. It enables parents and club members to save significantly when conducting regular shopping activities and allows them to continue to support their club.
“For example, if a merchant offers 5% cash back on a $200 purchase, that $10 will come off club membership and the benefits that it provides.”
