S&P Global CFO Ewout Steenbergen Joins Booking

Booking Holdings Inc. has announced the appointment of Ewout Steenbergen, a veteran from S&P Global, as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective March 15. Steenbergen will take over from David Goulden, who retired in February after six years with the Norwalk-based company.

Steenbergen, aged 54, is set to receive an initial annual base salary of $825,000 and a target annual bonus of 180% of his base salary, prorated for 2024, as outlined in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing from Booking.

In his new role, Steenbergen will oversee Booking’s global finance organization, including finance, tax, treasury, accounting, internal audit, corporate development, real estate, and investor relations. He will directly report to CEO Glenn Fogel, as stated in the press release.

Steenbergen’s move to Booking comes after his decision to leave S&P Global, where he spent seven years, to pursue a new professional opportunity. S&P Global is currently evaluating candidates, internal and external, for his replacement, and Steenbergen will remain with the company until March 2024 to ensure a smooth transition.

Among his notable achievements at S&P Global, Steenbergen played a key role in the acquisition of Kensho, the company’s artificial intelligence and innovation hub, and contributed to the successful $44 billion merger between S&P Global and IHS Markit last year. Prior to his tenure at S&P Global, Steenbergen served as CFO at Voya Financial, an investment management company based in New York.

Booking’s CEO, Glenn Fogel, expressed optimism about Steenbergen’s arrival, highlighting his extensive background in technology and finance and its potential value in driving the company’s vision for the future of travel.
