Nokia to acquire Fenix Group to bolster defence wireless offering
Finnish telecommunications vendor Nokia has signed an agreement to acquire Fenix Group, a company specialising in tactical third generation partnership project communications solutions for defence communities.
Fenix Group is a provider of tactical communication products including the Banshee product family.
The systems provide data connections to many devices and users simultaneously for a wide range of military applications.
Fenix Group is a portfolio company of Enlightenment Capital.
Nokia said the acquisition of Fenix will allow Nokia to offer a more comprehensive suite of solutions to its defence customers.
Nokia president of mobile networks Tommi Uitto described the acquisition as a “important milestone in our strategy to grow our defence business.”
“We are excited to welcome Fenix to the Nokia family, and we look forward to working together to create a more stable world with high-performance, secure, and reliable communications solutions.”
“We are thrilled to be joining Nokia. We believe that by combining our capabilities, we can create even more innovative and effective solutions for our defence customers,” said Fenix Group CEO Dave Peterson.
