Year’s end and beginning is always a time full of reflections about the past & the future. It’s a perfect opportunity to make some predictions that will help us as designers plan what to learn to boost our careers.

Let’s then analyze the current trends and predict what will be the hype of 2024!

But first… since I am working on design predictions every year — let’s sum up briefly what I was right about.

2023 Trends — summary

In the last year article, I made a few statements on how the design will evolve. Here are those who were predicted successfully:

• No-code battle of titans — I have observed the rise of Framer as the rising star for no-code websites. Last year they introduced many excellent features. However, Webflowteam is working hard to develop their tool too. It is a wonderful time to see how competition ignites progress.
• Virtual reality — Predictions were correct about Apple. They presented their AR/VR headset, but because it’s not yet available for purchase, there is no huge hype for solutions around it.
• AI-driven design — chatGPT, image generators triggered the change in design workflow. This will for sure continue in 2024
• Visual Style — gradients & bento grids — I made very accurate predictions in the visual style area. Bento grids are loved by designers, even if they are not perfect in terms of information architecture. We see a lot of gradient text, but also backgrounds (especially imitation of light reflections).

UX/UI Design trends for 2024

Let’s get back to future thinking now. There are multiple categories that will play a more significant role in our industry; some fresh things will explode for sure. Grab the mug of your favorite coffee, and let’s go through them one by one!
