iOS 17.2 will introduce a new way for sharing boarding passes, tickets and other passes stored in the Wallet app.

Like NameDrop, the iOS feature that lets owners easily share contact info, the new way to share passes will require bringing your iPhone close to the top of another iPhone with the Wallet app open.

iOS 17.2 will make sharing passes from the Wallet app easier

Bringing your iPhone to the top of another iPhone will initiate the sharing process, with a Share button appearing below the pass in the Wallet app. Tapping the button will share the pass over AirDrop with the other iPhone owner.

You already can share passes and tickets in the Wallet app over AirDrop, Messages and other apps through the Share menu.

iOS 17.2 will just use one of th0se methods — AirDrop — with NameDrop to offer a cooler sharing experience.

iOS 17.2 packs many new features and changes

The NameDrop-like sharing for passes in Wallet is just one of the many features that iOS 17.2 will bring. Expected to drop next week, the update will introduce the Journal app, a Translate option for the Action button and other upgrades.

Apple also recently revealed that iOS 17.2 will add Qi2 support on iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. This will allow them to charge at full 15W speeds with compatible Qi2 chargers.

Other smaller changes include Siri enhancements, new Digital Clock and Weather widget options, and Apple News gaining Live Activities support. iOS 17.2 also will add Spatial Video recording on iPhone 15 Pro for Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset.
