No problem, worst case you can just nuke the site from orbit, rebuild the image and reinstall. If its still bad after that then you may have a hardware issue, one way to try and verify would be to use an 8.1 recovery image from Microsoft to see if the same problem happens there.

Hi Jwa4,

As your suggestion, i reinstall the build 15035. The result, audio failure, is still the same.
I try to work around and do the windows update, and suddenly found it is updating the firmware.
I think this might be a fatal mistake to make it fail for future update of win10 15035.

I also use your suggested link to get the the image file. When i enter the serial number and found my surface is a "Surface 2".
I always think mine is a surface RT, so i choose RT image all the time. This is a big mistake as you told me earlier.
I am very grateful to you for the advice about this, thanks!

Then i use the "Windows Media Builder", https://jwa4.gitbook.io/windows/tools/windows-media-builder#device-support, to make an image file of surface 2, but encounter the failure to boot the surface from the USB drive.

here below is the situation:

insert usb drive, then go steps as below:

step 1: press volume then power key together to boot
step 2: "Keyboard Layout" shown, select "traditional-chinese/us" layout. (pic 1)
step 3: from "Choose an Option" page, select "Use Device".(pic 2)
step 4: from "Use Device" page, select "USB Drive". (pic 3)
*The screenshot is in Chinese, item selected is highlighted.

Then, the surface take about 2 min to reboot, but go back to step 1 above.
It comes an endless loop without booting from the USB drive.
I use UsbTreeView.exe to check the USB drive, it is version 2.0.
When i build an image on another USB drive which is version 3.2 Gen 1, the surface won't even show the pages of step 2 to step 4, it goes to windows startup screen directly.
The hub i use is USB version 3.0. Look the version of usb drive did matter in someway, but no matter which version, they are not workable.

in brief,
1. accidentally update the firmware from Windows Update.
2. incorrect use of image file of RT for surface 2.
3. different version of USB drives have different behavior, but all are not working.

Now, i come to a dead end if i can't reboot the surface from usb drive, i can do nothing, sad and frustrated.
Looking for help and will appreciate any advice to make surface bootable from usb drive.
