Oro "it's flatpak time" 🏳️‍🌈: "Accent colors are now a standa…"

@orowith2os Oh, I didn't expect that to happen but I'm positively surprised with this change.

@orowith2os Yay! Though I feel like @thomholwerda and his never ending flatpak theming troubles probably needs to make your acquaintance.

@orowith2os I like it when it follows the wallpaper colour. My wallpaper automatically changes every 10 seconds.

@faizalr that's out of the scope of this setting on its own; it's up to your DE (or you) to make it follow that behavior. And apps to dynamically change the accent color whenever it changes.

@orowith2os @thelinuxEXP More standardization in the Linux ecosystem. Just needs various vendors to implement it :)

Endorsed by GNOME does not feel quite accurate since the spec supports arbitrary colors, but their implementation only converts the accent to the nearest color they support. I imagine that Elementary is the same way. But it’s better than the spec remaining blocked, though.

@tiz I'd argue those are two different things here - the portal using arbitrary colors has no effect on GNOME using their limited set of supported values. It's not their problem if anything happens on another desktop that causes anything to go wrong. Their concern is their desktop, and theirs alone.

@tiz late additional reply - I'm going to go against my usual GNOME bias and say that their problem is from trying to force *their* standards and see decisions onto other desktops.

And if anything, the portal being an enum would've done more harm than good, with it limiting future additions to their supported colors and rolling it out to clients. As well as inter-desktop support.
