Innovative Plant-Based Filter Purges Nearly All Microplastics from Water
- Developed by scientists from the University of British Columbia and Sichuan University, the ‘bioCap’ filter uses fruit and wood compounds to remove between 95.2 and 99.9 percent of microplastics.
- Tests show the device can prevent microplastic accumulation in the organs of mice.
- The eco-friendly bioCap device is suitable for scaling up for industrial use or down for home use, contributing to no ‘further pollution’ like plastic filters.
