15 Excellent Color Plugins for Figma
These color plugins will make your design work less tedious and more colorful.
1. Image Palette
Image Palette is a Figma plugin that allows you to extract a color palette of 5 different colors from the selected images. It uses a median cut algorithm, which roughly approximates the most prominent different colors in the image, so the extracted colors may not exactly match the hex codes in the image.
2. Color Palettes
Color Palettes will help you search for your favorite color code, palette number, or name and apply it to your design.
3. Palette
Palette helps you create the perfect color palette through machine learning. When you open Palette it will detect which shapes you have selected and use their fill colors (up to 5) or an image fill to seed your new color palette. You can click on colors to lock them in as you generate new colors and drag colors to reorder.
4. Coolors
Coolors is a super fast color palette generator that will help you align your color scheme with your brand colors. You can generate random color schemes, lock your favorite colors (to align with your branding colors), andget the remaining colors that match perfectly with your branding.
5. Color Designer
Limiting the total number of colors used in layouts is one of the best practices in UI design. But how do you create a visually appealing UI when you have only a few colors? The answer is — use tints and shades. Color Designer plugin generates shades, tints, and color harmonies based on select layers or local styles. You can also create a stepped gradient between two colors.
6. Color Shades
Color Shades allows you to generate multiple shades from the base color. Simply enter a base color with the color picker (square next to hex value) or type a hex value into the input field. And adjust the contrast by clicking and dragging on the contrast value or by entering a number between 0–100.
7. Colorwell
Colorwell is like having a painters mixing palette in Figma. Select your mixing color, and spin the color mixer to mix it in. Then, use or save the currently mixed color to your palette or Figma design.
8. Duotones
The duotone effect is the use of two contrasting colors to create a dramatic and visually pleasing effect in designs. It helps to create a very trendy look. This plugin allows you to apply Duotone Effect Filter on images.
9. uiGradients
Gradients are simple visual styles that make UI more visually appealing. uiGradients helps you to add gradients to groups, text, and frames in a single click. Simply select the element to apply gradient and launch the plugin. You can choose from 350+ gradients to add to frames, groups, and texts.
The tool is also available as web service.
10. Mesh gradients
Mesh gradients is another nice Figma plugin that allows you to create awesome real mesh gradients right inside Figma.
11. Noisy Gradients
The plugin creates unconventional gradients — noisy gradients — that can be a good option for conveying retro effects in the design.
12. Color overlay
Color overlay allows you to recolor raster images quickly and easily. You can overlay an image with a solid color fill (like the Color Overlay layer effect in Photoshop. And the great thing is all effects applied are non-destructive and saved as layers in the image frame.
13. Batch Styler
Need to change values of multiple color styles at once but don’t want to go through the process of changing each style on its own? With Batch Styler, you can do just that! No matter if 2 or 30 styles, changing from one color to another but keeping all other styles is now possible.
14. A11y — Color Contrast Checker
Good design is accessible design. The significant part of accessibility is about creating proper contrast for text and functional elements that make it easier for users to comprehend information. This plugin checks the color contrast ratio of all visible text in a frame, and it provides feedback on whether it meets WCAG’s AA and/or AAA level compliance.
15. Color Blind
Not all colors you use can work well for your users. Some people are color blind, and incorrect color selection can make interaction with your product for them much harder. Color Blind allows you to view your designs in the eight different types of color vision deficiencies. All you need to do is select the object, and the plugin will create versions with the colors changed based on what each one would look like to a person with that type of color blindness.
