Hey designers! By now, I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard about Adobe Photoshop’s AI functions and how amazing they are. If you’re still not sure how to use it and what it can do, please keep reading! I’ll walk you through it step by step.
How to use Photoshop Generative Fill function
1. Download Photoshop Beta
Open the Adobe Creative Cloud, click on “Beta app”, and then install the “Photoshop (Beta).”
2. Extend the image
Drop your image into PS, then use the Crop tool to extend the canvas to the size you want.

3. Select the Area & Generative Fill
Click the “Rectangular Marquee tool” and select the area you want to apply the generative fill to.
Next, click the “Generative Fill” button to see the first draft! You can either write a prompt or leave it blank for the AI to come up with something for you. Let’s try leaving it blank and see how it goes.
