Howard Hughes’s Hancock Park Mansion Lists for $23 Million

A luxurious Los Angeles property that was previously owned by the famous billionaire Howard Hughes, known for his contributions to the movie and aviation industries, is up for sale at a price of $23 million.

The estate is a beautiful Spanish Colonial-style hacienda situated in the eighth hole of the Wilshire Country Club golf course, located in the Hancock Park neighborhood. The residence was originally constructed in 1926 by the renowned architect Roland E. Coate for a wealthy socialite, but was later rented and eventually purchased by Mr. Hughes.

The house is featured in Martin Scorsese’s 2004 movie “The Aviator,” which portrays Howard Hughes’ life in Hollywood. It is presently under the ownership of Ash Shah and his wife, Niroupa Shah. Ash is a former movie producer who now runs a restaurant business. The couple bought the property for $6.3 million in 2012.

The house sits on almost 0.75 acres and is around 10,200 square feet. It boasts eight bedrooms, including an apartment above the three-car garage. The property also features a motor court, a swimming pool, and an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven. Notably, Howard Hughes resided in the house for over ten years during the peak of his career. During his time there, he produced famous films such as “Hell’s Angels” and “Scarface,” set a transcontinental airspeed record, and had a romantic relationship with Katharine Hepburn.

The listing of a Los Angeles estate once owned by Howard Hughes for $23 million adds a chapter to the story of one of America’s most enigmatic and fascinating figures.

“Howard Hughes was a renowned business tycoon, aviator, and filmmaker. The property’s connection to him adds a layer of historical interest that may attract certain buyers,” said Dr. Amarendra Bhushan Dhiraj, the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive of CEOWORLD Magazine. “A property of this caliber is likely to attract high-net-worth individuals, Howard Hughes is a figure shrouded in mystery and known for his eccentricities, especially later in his life. His connection to the property could be a selling point for some or merely a curiosity for others. ”
