無 Internet 也能使用的 IP cam
前幾天在 Hacker News 上看到的討論，有人在問有沒有不需要連網，也不希望透過 app 連的 IP cam：「Ask HN: IP cameras that don't require an app or internet?」。會在意隱私性的人應該會有興趣。
討論裡面意外看到幾個台灣廠商，首先是翻到 GeoVision，奇偶科技：
Geovision cameras are low end and not expensive. They are Taiwanese in origin and are pretty easy to find.
這家的產品在台灣一般 C 端的 EC 通路沒找到，但蝦皮上有翻到一些資料；如果跑去美國的 Amazon 上面找可以看到不少商品，價錢似乎比較便宜？
另外一個是台達旗下的 VIVOTEK：
There's a Taiwanese brand Vivotek that makes some relatively affordable NDAA cameras. I'm hoping to try them out myself, but unfortunately haven't had time yet.
這家在 PChome 與 momo 上面都有擺一些商品，另外在蝦皮上就可以找到蠻多商品；在 Amazon 上面也不少商品。

Netflix 在單機服務 400Gbps 的影音流量
在 Hacker News 首頁上看到 Netflix 在 EuroBSDCon 2021 上發表的投影片：「Serving Netflix Video at 400Gb/s on FreeBSD」，對應的討論則是在「Serving Netflix Video at 400Gb/s [pdf] (freebsd.org)」這邊可以翻到，投影片的作者有在上面回答一些問題。 投影片在講的應該就是 Netflix 的 Open Connect。 主要是因為 Open Connect 的伺服器是放到各家 ISP 機房，在單一 IP 且單一伺服器的限制下，要想辦法壓榨出最高的效能。 硬體是 AMD 的 EPYC，在先前的版本可以達到 240Gbps，經過分析與嘗試解決了一堆問題後，最後是在原來的 AMD 機器上跑到了 380Gbps (另外有測 ARM 以及 Intel 的數字)，然後之後機房有可能會有 800Gbps 的標準，他們又要繼續煩惱... 有看到…

Camerfirma 的情況

回頭來看一下 Limelight Networks
是因為看到「How Limelight Networks speeds up sales deals with Slack Connect」這篇，才想到 Limelight Networks 這家 CDN 之前也是這個產業很大的 vendor，在很多大型網站可以看到 llnw 的蹤跡 (當時 Microsoft 的 Windows Updates 與 Apple 的軟體下載還會用他的服務)，但這十年看起來就被 Cloudflare 與 CloudFront 以及 Fastly 這些後起之秀超越過去了... (至少在聲量上面是這樣) 翻到 Global Private Network 這頁，意外發現現在有把節點列出來了，記得以前是不公開的... 在裡面可以看到台灣也有節點，不過拿 HiNet 與 APOL (家裡的 cable) 實際測官網 www.limelight.com，發現都是導去香港的點，可能是有需要的客戶才會導過去，之後有機會也許問問看...
