My name is Evan, the Co-founder and CEO of Coatails. I’m excited to tell you about our more effective way of networking.

The story 📖

Networking is all about forming professional relationships to find mentors, gain industry insights, and seek out opportunities. This typically requires strong introductions to new connections.

I was browsing through my LinkedIn connections one day and I had a shocking realization - I have over a hundred people in my network and only a few of them actually matter to me. With the vast majority of connections, I know of them but I don’t see them having any impact on my career in the future. Generally, I’ve only talked to these people once or twice at best. Some of them, I’ve never even heard of 😮. For the few people that do matter, I’ve noticed that I met them in person and had rich conversations when I first met them. I knew what I had to do. I got in touch with my business partner, Matt(who I met in real life) and we started thinking of ideas for what would become Coatails!

Here’s what you get with Coatails 📋

✅ Meet connections in real life and have a strong introduction. You connect with people by scanning a QR code in our app(similar to Snapchat and Venmo). This ensures that connections are in person first.

✅ When you scan to connect, you get more than just a phone number. You get a whole resume’s worth of information with profile pictures, titles, bios, education history, work experience, and contact info. Say goodbye to typing phone numbers in your contacts app.

✅ Seek out new connections with our connection map feature. Visualize who your connections know in a map that connects them. This is a great way to expand your network and you can pretty much guarantee your first connections know the second connections because they had to meet in real life too.

Opportunities will allow people to leverage their networks in a way that builds on the strength of their connections. Every opportunity is flexible and can range from something as simple as looking for someone to mow a lawn to something as big as a c-suite position. People are inclined to post opportunities because they have more knowledge on who candidates are and are more likely to be satisfied with the results of their request. Those who seek out opportunities find unique jobs that they may not find on any job board and can get ahead of their peers.
