A drop-in notification center for your web and mobile apps

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 We learned so much from our first launch two years ago and are so excited to be back with our latest offering.

Brace yourselves for a tale about our latest creation — a full-featured notification inbox that you can simply drop into your web and mobile apps and perfectly customize to match your UX.

Here’s the scenario we wanted to solve for: Your product team uncovered that application engagement needs to be much much higher. They spec out a notification center inbox for your app, complete with integrated push notifications. The PRD spares no expense, pulling from the very best web and mobile examples out there. They want it to handle everything— product announcements, alerts when usage thresholds are exceeded, billing notifications, growth marketing-related messages when users hit lifecycle events. Everything.

So…dilemma time.

Does the entire engineering team stop what they’re doing for 6 months to make this happen? Do you spend endless meetings scoping it down until it’s a shell of its original spec, let alone competitive?

That’s where we come in. With Courier’s notification platform, developers get access to a complete best-in-class inbox that can drop right into your web and mobile apps. We wanted to offer flexible building blocks that make creating the exact notification system and experience much simpler through pre-built UI components and a powerful notifications API.

Now, this notification center project goes from 6+ months to 6 lines of code. With our Inbox SDKs for web, Android, and iOS, integrating a top-notch notification center becomes a breeze. You can reach your users and bring them back into your app like never before.

To highlight a few of the features…. First off, Inbox is just one way to reach your users with Courier. A notification to the inbox can also hit email, Slack, SMS, Whatsapp—any channel; with loads of possibilities to automate the logic and delivery sequencing in just the right way. Next, there are multiple ways to trigger these notifications. It can be via API or an event from your customer data platform like Segment or even a manual one-time send from our web UI. The inbox also includes mobile push and web pop-up "toast" notifications so you can bring users back to your app even when it’s not open. And don't worry about spamming users; we support advanced send logic like throttling, batching, and even digesting of notifications based on user preferences. Best of all: our inbox is either drop-in with full customizability or you can go rogue and build your own, using Courier as a headless backend.

If this sounds interesting, the best place to start is our docs: https://bit.ly/3Xby7Y8

We also couldn’t help ourselves and put together a fun demo app about puppies that we wrote about: https://bit.ly/3p4lKjV

And because we want everyone to experience Courier, we’ve made it free to use for up to 10,000 notifications per month.

Any and all of your feedback helps us be better, so please share your thoughts with us. It motivates us to get up each and every morning and continue on this journey of building the best notifications platform around! 🚀
