iPad is an extremely versatile device, being able to act as a phone, laptop, television, cash register, cookbook, drawing tablet, music keyboard, second display, gaming powerhouse, ebook reader, smart display, easel, just about anything you could think of, it can "do" it with par performance.

So, there's many possibilities on what to do with the magical slate. This depends on model, of course, but I use mine for everything I do, as a main device. My question is, what do you do with yours? You can include as much information as you see fit, I'm just curious what they can be used for.

My iPad is indispensable for work, I use it for:

- MS Teams meetings with colleagues. I find it a lot easier to carry around than a laptop.
- Reviewing, scanning and marking of documents.
- Email and accessing certain internal company sites.
- Reviewing of documents with clients. Again, I find it more convenient on a tablet.
- Zoom and Teams calls with customers.

I still have a company issued clunky windows laptop which I occasionally use to access legacy Windows systems.

My work is done entirely on a work-issued laptop, so it’s personal use only. I own both a 4th gen iPad Air and an M1 MacBook Air. Honestly the only real difference between the two is Pencil support which I do use every now and then. Otherwise typing this comment would have been more comfortable on the MacBook and the screen is bigger but that’s details to my limited use. I’m keeping the MacBook in a drawer to see if I miss it and if I could maybe sell it.

In general my iPad does what my iPhone could, but on a bigger screen. Nothing fancy for me otherwise.

my iPad is my personal computing device of choice. It doesn't do any work related tasks anymore as I keep things strictly separated these days. Not that it could do anything work related as efficiently as the MBP in my workflow except maybe scribbling notes, but I keep it for private things anyway.

I use it for consumption purposes. So watching videos, reading news, shopping, colouring, games, social media, web browsing.

For personal use:
- web browsing;
- streaming;
- reading ebook and journals;

For work use:
- reading and studying book and scientific papers;
- writing and editing scientific papers (bibliography added with macbook at the end of the work);
- meeting (zoom, google meet, ms teams);

For both:
- signing documents;
- email.

I’m thinking about switching, in the future, from my actual iPad Pro 12.9” 64 gb wifi to a 11” 256 gb LTE, to have more internal space and mobile connection.

Watching HDR content, note taking, web browsing, writing emails, light admin tasks, gaming, and as an occasional portable monitor for my MBP via Side Car.

We have an old iPad Mini 4 which is still doing decently well. Mostly our 4 year-old just watches videos on it. It's pretty slow but it has enough storage to cache a lot of stuff offline and the battery is somehow still doing well enough for a few hours in the car on a road trip.

I also sometimes use it for running Paprika in the kitchen when I'm cooking.

I sometimes dial it for a FaceTime Audio call if my wife has (once again) left her phone on silent and I need to reach her. The iPad is set to ring and is usually plugged in, so it becomes a backup "house phone".

But for everything else, I use my iPhone or my MacBook which is usually close at hand.

I only use occasionally when I want to read books. Other than that, I prefer new MacBook Air due to very similar weight and battery life. If I can flip MBA’s screen 360 degree or detach it, the iPad would no longer needed (Apple won’t allow this).

I'm an academic, and at work I use it for:

- Reading/annotating long documents (e.g. PhD dissertations)
- Teaching
- Note taking in meetings
- Occasionally I use it for Google Meet meetings as well

At home I use it for:

- Watching TV/Sports on the bed/sofa
- My kids use it to play games
- I sometimes use it to listen to the radio/podcasts when I'm around the house.

Well my iPad Pro m2 was doing nothing in the office closet. Sitting unopened since Dec 2022. That’s what my iPad was doing. No kidding! I got it for $600 no sales taxes military store. I already have m1 iPad Pro. So I sold it to a friend for $600. So that iPad will start getting some use.

I mainly work from home and have a work issued PC. During the workday, I use my iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard as a personal laptop replacement (I also own a M1 MBP) to browse web sites, stream shows/movies, check personal email and respond to iMessages. After I’m done work, I take the iPad off the MK and use it as a traditional tablet that has the same uses.

Listening to music and audiobooks, usually paired with my Homepod Mini, games, email, banking, news/weather, quickly looking something up. Prefer to use my Macbook for more extensive browsing or typing.

Currently using the 2018 11" iPad Pro.

Work:
1) Teaching - annotate on pdfs in notability while iPad is mirrored to Apple TV. Camera allows my iPad to double as a visualiser (when mounted to a stand).
2) Scan documents (scanner pro)
3) Light productivity - read emails, review lesson material (stored in OneDrive, and I really growing to like the Files app). Video editing (eg: editing screencasts using lumafusion). Take meeting minutes (with a bluetooth keyboard, since my work laptop is used to run the zoom meeting).

Study:
Was on course for 4 months recently. The iPad really shone as a note-taking device during lectures. Took notes with Freeform (not really my style), mindnode and Notes (but felt it got really laggy after a while). Would have loved the notes linking feature back then. Stage Manager was moderately useful here by allowing me to have 3 apps open at the same time (files, notes, mindnode).

Content consumption:
1) Fair amount of YouTube, podcast and music listening, light gaming, web browsing, reading, the stuff I do on my iPhone but when I want a larger screen).

Now wondering what the next iPad Pro refresh will bring, and whether I want to upgrade or not.

My M1 iPad Pro is my main computing device for personal use, and a great companion for some professional use (I am working in business as a group consolidator in the finance / reporting department

personal use : mostly on the couch or in bed - mostly just iPad + pencil and no Magic Keyboard except when listening or watching something while cooking for example
- web browsing, email
- banking + Personal budget in Numbers
- video watching
- gaming: occasionally an apple Arcade game or Civ 6
- some social media
- music listening

professional use : usually when working from home expect for document signing and note Taking during a meeting)
- document signing
- notes taking (notes app or quicknote during a Teams meeting
- using universal control along with my iMac I use the iPad as a sort of secondary screen but main is to keep MS teams and Outlook in Split View on the iPad while working on the iMac, using the iMacs keyboard and Magic Trackpad to control both devices.
- Microsoft apps like SharePoint, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Outlook, MS Teams (
- web apps like our group consolidation software SigmaConso, Microsoft Dynamics

I have a Brydge keyboard and turned my 12.9 6th generation into a laptop. I use it for everything that I do on my iPhone except using the Health App, which I can’t use because I am not going to use the beta version. I journal everyday using the 12.9. I also have a mini 6, that I use for outside, and to read my books on the kindle app.

I use my 12.9 for pretty much everything I do, which really isn’t much compared to some. I have one game I have played for years that I play daily while drinking my coffee. I browse a couple forums, and check my couple of social media sites when I can tolerate them.

I type documents, edit and sign documents, make lists galore for various things, do budget, make photo books, do my planner, pay bills, manage bank accounts, store recipes, do home school planning, store texts/home school items to read, store and listen to audio books with the grandkids for literature, read devotionals, etc.

I also watch the occasional movie or documentary when I can get my crappy internet to cooperate.
