WhatsApp’s latest beta update for Android and iOS now includes a feature that allows users to share high-quality photos. The update is available on Google Play Store and TestFlight app. Beta testers can now manage photo quality and choose between standard and HD quality for large images. Nonetheless, it is important to note that photos will still undergo some compression even with the HD quality option.

According to WabetaInfo, users can access the new feature by clicking on the option that appears when sharing a photo. And users will need to select the HD option each time they want to share a photo with improved quality and resolution. The default option will always be “Standard Quality”.

Compared to the screenshots seen in January of this year, the option has changed in appearance. With the HD option now clearly labeled. When a photo is shared using the HD quality option, it will be marked with a new tag to make it easily recognizable. However, this feature is currently available only for images within conversations.

Although the ability to send HD photos is not available to all beta testers, it is likely that the feature will be available more widely in the coming weeks. For now, WhatsApp is proceeding with caution by testing the feature with a reduced number of users.

The update is great news for WhatsApp users who want to share high-quality photos with loved ones. Compression is still applied with HD quality. But the resolution is much better. This results in a better viewing experience. This was a long requested feature by the fans of the popular app, and it’s good to finally get it. Let’s wait for it to finally arrive in the stable version.
