Google’s Spoiled Us

Jay Peters: Google’s AI-powered Search Experience Is Way Too Slow

But as somebody who has wasted eons of his life looking at loading screens in streaming videos and video games, having to do so on Google Search is a deal-breaker for me. And when the results don’t feel noticeably better than what I could get just by looking at what Google offered before, I don’t think SGE is worth waiting for.

I haven’t used Google’s new text generation feature yet, but I will say that after using these LLM-powered tools for a while, I do always find Google to be shockingly quick whenever I do a traditional search. I can ask Google basically anything and have the answer in less than a second, and that’s just a great experience.
