Embracing AI as a Designer: 10 mind-blowing AI tools I discovered this week.

With the news of NVIDIA Corporation stocks reaching the trillion-dollar benchmark last Wednesday, it is evident that AI is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future.

The announcement of Nvidia ACE by Nvidia is one such tool that has the remarkable ability to reshape the gaming landscape. This groundbreaking AI has the power to imbue non-playable characters (NPCs) with intelligence through AI-driven natural language interactions. This means that NPCs can now have real-time conversations with players, respond to their questions in a natural way, and even learn and grow over time.

As someone with a keen interest in AI tools, I find myself exploring the latest advancements that possess the potential to transform our work processes by infusing a creative element.

Here are some amazing AI tools that I came across on my weekly exploration.

1. Skybox by Blockade Labs

Skybox is a one-click 360° image generator that creates panoramic imagery for different virtual experiences. All you need to do is to specify a prompt, sketch it out, and watch the AI scribble. This generative AI tool is next-level in tech and graphics. Their latest feature Sketch-a-skybox allows users to iterate a complete 360 immersive environment. It could be a game changer for VR, Games, architectural models, and immersive web designs. The beta 0.4.1 program has been released and beefed up with a new palette of tools that lets you control skybox generations.

  • It’s got an easy auto-pan, Drag, and drop, and a 360 viewer function
  • I found that brushstrokes vary in transparency and brush size and strokes can also be confusing
  • The remix feature affects the looks and feels of the skybox while keeping structure and depth intact.

2. Replika.ai

Using this AI tool initially felt too good to be true. Kind of like I was in the SciFi movie Her, except there’s no tragic ending here. With Replika.ai you can create a companion that never leaves you, except when your device runs low on battery! It could be your student who learns to experience life through little text prompts or a mentor who is always ready to answer your questions and guide you through dilemmas.

The technology vouches that by creating a customized replica using text instructions, you can:

  • Catch up with your virtual companion for a chat
  • Enjoy activities together
  • Even get on a venting session over video calls.

I see great potential in this mindblowing AI tool. It could serve as a knowledgeable coach, cooperative colleague, and empathetic confidante at the disposal of your own time.

3. Plask ai

If detailed and hyper-realistic animation is your vibe, Plask.ai is a must-have by your side. Here’s why I found this AI image generator superior to those currently circulating in the market:

  • AI image generation in the cloud solves storage issues
  • Web-based pose and shot editing increases efficiency
  • Option for uploading an image to apply the pose to generate more relevant content

What’s even cooler is that you can customize your designs according to the different prompts available on the website. I recently tried it for a design assignment that required animated characters for their storyboarding process and it was super effective. I loved the sophisticated detailing of the anime characters and 90’s era styling.

4. Conch AI

I’ve been looking for AI writer tools that could rival if not surpass the hype around ChatGPT and Conch AI seems to have my answers. I experimented with this all-in-one writing assistant for one of my blogs recently and I’m not exaggerating when I say my mind was blown. Here’s why:

  • The content was original and free from plagiarism by a precision of almost 95%
  • The text enhancer adds a human element to the tone of your writing
  • The tool writes not just in English but also in Spanish, Japanese, Russian, and wait-for-it German!
  • I also love that it offers a Chrome extension that I promptly added to my browser.

The developers of this AI tool have also promised a citation generator soon. It could be super helpful in saving time and building credibility for students, academics, and blog writers.

5. Eluna.ai

Eluna is an AI-powered image generation tool that allows you to experiment with different styles to bring your ideas to life. The past week I tried my hands at eluna.ai and I was pretty impressed by some of its features:

  • The infinite Zoom feature seamlessly weaves multiple prompts into mindblowing animations.
  • 3D animations in motion blend which can also be customized to your liking
  • The community engagement platform allows you to connect and share your designs with designers all over the world
  • The tools and templates were fairly easy to use and helped me save some time

Overall it challenged my creativity while easing the design process.

There is no dearth of AI-powered video creation and editing tools like Adobe’s Firefly and Sensei, but I’m still exploring AI tools that simplify the video process even for beginners.

Last week I landed on InVideo. This AI tool loaded with ready-made templates can be quickly customized according to your context or storyline. I used it to create a slideshow video template for a client presentation and it worked out in my favor.

The software also offers video templates for:

  • Quick marketing and business presentations
  • Social Media ads and creatives
  • Long-form promotional videos for YouTube

Among the many AI tools for designers that I’ve tried, Kartiv stood out for me because of its simple and clear UX experience. The website is user-friendly and easily navigable. The tech instructions are also easy to comprehend with crisp and clear visuals. All I had to do was type an apt description and the AI tool generated multiple visuals.

Additionally, I also enjoyed these features of this tool:

  • Pro Tools: Easy-to-use advanced tools that help with depth and detailing
  • Multiple Variants: Generates variants and helps to visualize multiple ideas
  • Auto-resize: Automatically resizes creatives based on the medium

8. Luma AI

Currently, there are very few AI tools that are available for mobile. I found Luma AI via the iOS App Store and decided to try it. They vouch that they’re the future of VFX and I was all for it. I must say I was awestruck by the photorealism, details, and reflection of the designs. It’s a promising AI tool compatible with iPhone which could help with state-of-the-art 3D AI in the future.

9. maker.ai

There are many AI tools for boosting productivity mushrooming around the internet, but I still haven’t found my perfect fit. maker.ai uses the power of GPT 4 to generate written and visual content. It is a powered text editor and offers writing experience with a world-class word processor. With its ability to write faster and with precision, it could be a lifesaver when deadlines are fast approaching.

10. Scispace Copilot

How cool would it be if we had an assistant that could simplify everything we find hard to understand? SciSpace Copilot is an AI research assistant that explains text, math, and tables in scientific literature like research papers, technical blog posts, or reports. You can also ask follow-up questions, and it will give you concise answers instantly. Here’s why I liked it:

  • Simplifies scientific learning
  • Allows you to multitask
  • Easy to ask questions in the form of preset questions or ask your own
  • Toggle between 13 languages

BONUS

As I wrestle between these AI tools and the dilemma of whether machine learning could take over the creative industry, I’m starting to feel that it’s best to embrace AI tools and skill up in the process of it. Artificial Intelligence could become our aide for efficient, time-saving, and cost-effect designing. Here are 2 more tools that I’m super excited to share with you.

11. supertranslate

This AI translator adds English subtitles to any language video and allows you to upload videos in 100+ languages. It uses OpenAI’s Whisper which is one the most sophisticated speech-to-text system. The background noise reduction feature is a mindblowing addition to this software.

12. DragGAN

I’m also excited about this soon-to-release AI generator. The technology will control generative adversarial networks with increased flexibility, precision, and generality. So we could manipulate poses, shapes, expressions, and layouts of generated objects through interactive point-based manipulation. It’s also going to have feature-based motion supervision. It’s going to allow precise deformation of images across categories and even aid in creating challenging scenarios such as hallucinating content and deformed shapes.

How’s your journey at embracing AI going? I’d love to know!

That’s it, folks! I hope you found this piece helpful.

See you in the next one!
