A Texas resident and self-proclaimed Elon Musk fan has been speaking out against the billionaire's construction projects in a rural area.

Per The Washington Post, Chap Ambrose, a computer programmer based in Bastrop County, leads a group of Texans pressuring Musk's companies to address concerns about the environmental impact of development by Musk's Boring Company and SpaceX.

The Boring Company has been working on a Bastrop facility since 2021 and Musk's private space company, SpaceX, has also started building a site there.

Referring to Musk's companies, Ambrose told the publication: "I just have no faith that the leadership there values the environment and these shared resources." He said he remained a fan but wanted Musk to "do better here and be a good neighbor."

Ambrose and representatives for The Boring Company and SpaceX did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside normal working hours.

Ambrose has been fighting the construction for some time. Last year, he launched a campaign to "Keep Bastrop Boring" and has been making YouTube videos publicizing his efforts.

The Texan previously told Insider's Grace Kay he considered himself a Musk fan but felt The Boring Company was breaking the law over its plans to dump treated wastewater. When contacted by Insider at the time, a spokesperson for The Boring Company did not respond.

Musk is reportedly planning to build a town called Snailbrook, which would be outside Austin and provide a place for SpaceX and The Boring Company staff to live and work. Musk and company employees have described the planned town as a "sort of Texas utopia along the Colorado River," per the Wall Street Journal
