Apple's Weather app for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac is down for some users, according to Apple's System Status page.
Apple says that the Weather app may be slow or unavailable for some users, and that the outage has been ongoing since 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
There have been reports of issues with the Weather app all day, though not all users are impacted. There was previously a major Weather outage in April that prevented the app from displaying data.

Yep. "Forecast failed" is what I'm seeing on my Mac.

Major issues with the Weather App. How in the world is this acceptable?
Someone said the weather outside isn't weathering and No data to weather if the weather isn't weathering.
I find that very hard to believe.

I’ve noticed the weather app only has issues when it’s raining. Has anyone looked outside to see if that’s true?
For real though, it seems at least one issue is the weather servers have issues with volume of requests. That’s in addition to little things like useful tools being buried in the interface, and big things like weather systems suddenly changing directions when the prediction algorithm kicks in.

Bring back Dark Sky App.They need to just buy a real weather app already.

It works for me but I am not satisfied with the quality of the forecast. I also use a S23 Ultra and Google gets the weather 95% of the time much better than my Apple devices running the Apple weather app. If I really want to know how the weather will be, I ask Google and do not trust my apple devices. It used to be better, but this has started happening around 6 months ago...

Maybe because the servers are busy with RC releases at the moment coming online.

Yeah, Apple Weather is a mess. I had an only used Dark Sky until it is no more. I tried MyRadar Pro. It's got great real time notifications but I don't like the interface. Dark Sky really nailed it with features and notifications. The sweetspot. Not impressed with many weather apps honestly.

I know meteorology is marginally better than astrology, and looking outside and sticking my hand out the window is way, way, WAY more accurate, but that's still effort.

I noticed this morning that it wouldn't update. I cleared the app and opened it again and it worked fine. Also, who only uses one weather app?

I say that when the server is down, the app should just invent data like ChatGPT. It would probably be no less accurate than the usual information provided, since meteorology is so hit-and-miss, so that most people will not even know the difference, and it would continue to provide comfort for those who want to think they have a hold on what the weather is and will be like. Of course, the made-up information can be based on regional and historical data so it will not be absurdly wrong.
