Windows 11 Takes the Next Step in Social Media Integration with Facebook Widget

Windows 11 Facebook widget

Not long ago, we learned about a number of new features for Windows 11. Microsoft has released new versions for the Canary, Dev, and Beta channels of the Insider program. In fact, most of the news is for the Dev channel. But there are some features that are for everyone, such as the new Facebook widget.

The Windows 11 widget ecosystem is expanding. So this is logical that Facebook is releasing a new widget for its main app. Facebook was one of the first to embrace the platform with a widget for the Messenger app. As for the new Facebook widget, the latter lets you see all of your social network alerts, such as comments, new posts, and invites, without having to open the app.

Gizchina News of the week

The Facebook widget is available in the Canary, Dev, and Beta channels and requires the latest version of the Facebook app to work.

New Details pane in Windows 11 File Explorer

With build 23451, Microsoft is currently testing an updated Details pane that shows extra info about a file, including suggested files that might be associated with it, or even an email exchange in which the item was included or discussed. But this feature is available only for Insiders who are enrolled in the Dev channel. Once the tests pass successfully, Microsoft will add this feature to Windows 11.

In addition to file suggestions and other data, this new pane provides an activity history for the file and an easy share button. It also has a modern design that blends in with the rest of Windows 11, making the overall experience more consistent.

Windows Spotlight

Also in the Dev channel, Microsoft is changing the design of Windows Spotlight. There are currently tons of new features in the test. One of them includes a richer UI with more info about the image on the screen, related images, and both a minimized and full-screen experience. Both choices will also contain 4K portrait photos. So we guess this will improve the visual quality of Windows Spotlight backgrounds on high-res monitors.
