Hello Product Hunt! 👋

I’m thrilled to introduce WriteRight, a chrome extension that makes writing in different languages easier and faster.

WriteRight automatically sets the writing direction of input elements (such as text fields, text areas, etc.) based on the language you’re typing in. For example, if you’re typing in Arabic or Hebrew, it will switch the direction to right-to-left. If you’re typing in English or Italian, it will switch the direction to left-to-right.

WriteRight also allows you to override the writing direction with keyboard shortcuts. You can use Ctrl+Left_Shift or Ctrl+Right_Shift to change the direction manually to LTR or RTL accordingly.

WriteRight works on any website that has input elements. It’s especially handy for websites that align the text to the wrong direction (like when writing in Hebrew on the English version of Google).

WriteRight is free and open sourced on https://github.com/arikw/write-r...

I built WriteRight because I often write in multiple languages and I was frustrated with the lack of support for bidirectional text on many websites. I also wanted to make it possible to switch the writing direction in Chrome on Linux, which is not supported by default.

As a developer, I was curious about developing with ChatGPT and I used Bing AI to do it. You can find out how I did it and what I learned from it on the GitHub page of the project.

I hope you find WriteRight useful. I’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Please let me know what you think in the comments.

Thank you for your support! 🙏
