Colgate-Palmolive raises annual organic sales forecast on price hikes

The company's shares rose about 2% in premarket trading after it also beat first-quarter revenue and profit expectations. Like many consumer product makers, Colgate-Palmolive has been raising prices to battle higher raw material, packaging and labor costs resulting from pandemic-induced supply chain disruptions and the Russia-Ukraine crisis. The company now expects full-year organic sales growth of 4% to 6%, compared with its prior expectations of 3% to 5% range.

Exxon ups production to counter falling prices in record Q1

Exxon Mobil more than doubled its profit during the first quarter, producing more oil to overcome energy prices that have declined during a period of economic unease. Net oil and gas net production jumped by nearly 300,000 oil-equivalent barrels per day compared with the same period last year, which was marked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and soaring energy prices. Exxon earned a record $11.43 billion, or $2.79 per share, for the three months ended March 31.

NatWest hit as savers shop around for highest rates

LONDON (Reuters) -British bank NatWest reported a 20 billion pound fall in deposits in the first quarter as consumers faced with a cost of living crisis forked out on steeper bills and shopped around for the best deals on their savings. The bank's CEO Alison Rose said competition for savings amid higher Bank of England interest rates had stepped up and households and businesses feeling the squeeze from high inflation were drawing on savings and paying down some debts. Despite a forecast-beating jump in profits, boosted by the higher rate environment, the bank's shares fell 6% as investors digested a third straight quarter of lower deposits and no upgrade to performance forecasts for the year.

Binance.US sailed away from its $1.3B deal with Voyager, now what?

Earlier this week, Binance.US broke off its $1.3 billion deal to buy crypto broker Voyager Digital’s assets due to a “hostile and uncertain regulatory climate.” The announcement comes about nine months after Voyager filed for bankruptcy. At the time, the U.S.-headquartered firm — and its two affiliates — said in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in the Southern District of New York that it had between $1 billion and $10 billion in assets and more than 100,000 creditors.

Retail Space Is At A Premium, And A Slew of Companies Are Lining Up To Take Bed Bath & Beyond's Soon-To-Be Vacant Locations

The recent Bed Bath & Beyond trials could serve as a primer for companies that failed to keep up with e-commerce or control their internal management. And what appears to be the last nail has been struck as the company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, with stores closing for good by the end of June. But don’t expect those stores to be empty for long. The retail sector, according to Cushman & Wakefield, grew by 2,400 stores last year, the largest level of growth in a decade. And there’s a lin

Intel climbs as Wall St cheers early signs of recovery

(Reuters) -Intel Corp shares rose 8% as the once-dominant chipmaker showed signs of a turnaround after ceding market share to rivals and struggling with all-time low margins. "While the future pace of the sector's recovery is uncertain, we do believe that Intel has reached a revenue, gross margin, and profit trough through this first half of 2023," said Benchmark analyst Cody Acree, upgrading the stock to "buy". Intel on Thursday projected adjusted gross margins will climb above 40% in the second half, and said it had ramped up shipments of a key data center chip after a more than one-year-long delay had allowed rivals to take its market share.

Exxon delivers record first-quarter profit on higher output

Exxon Mobil Corp on Friday reported a record first-quarter profit that was more than double a year ago and topped Wall Street estimates as rising oil and gas output overcame a pullback in energy prices from high levels. "We delivered a first-quarter record despite the fact that energy prices and refining margins are softening a bit," Chief Financial Officer Kathryn Mikells said in an interview. Exxon's quarter was driven by new volumes of crude oil and fuels from the startup of new offshore developments and refining facilities.
