Positive change and disrupting yourself - a good idea?

By Alex Zaharov-Reutt

Choose Yourself. It’s the title of a great pre-pandemic book from the multi-talented James Altucher, where he extols the value of choosing yourself.

I have been contributing to iTWire for the better part of two decades, from when it was its predecessor, The Beer Files, in 2004, until today.

In that time I have contributed thousands of articles to iTWire, which were read millions of times, and I am very grateful to iTWire and all of its owners, past and present, for the opportunity.

It has been a great ride, but I have muddled through life, only achieving a sliver of my potential, and in recent times, if not recent years, I have been using iTWire as a crutch and an excuse not to achieve vastly more.

Now, don’t get me wrong. iTWire is an excellent Australian-owned and run publication, helmed by the highly-skilled and multi-talented CEO and Editor-in-Chief Andrew Matler, whose record in the world of IT before publishing is an impressive journey of achievement.

iTWire’s writers include Stephen Withers, David M Williams, Sam Varghese, Kenn Anthony Mendoza, Nick Ross, David Heath, Andrew Matler, Gordon Peters and more, so there’s a breadth and depth of talent there producing great content on a regular basis.

iTWire should definitely remain among your go-to Australian and global tech news sources for news, views, interviews and reviews - it is a great publication, with iTWireTV an equally great channel, and I thank you very much for being a very loyal and valued reader and viewer - and I sincerely hope you continue choosing iTWire as a quality Australian business technology news source, which also covers communications, consumer and other tech topics.

But for me, it’s time to change, and as James Altucher advises, to choose myself, and embark upon my own journey with gusto - especially as my 50th birthday looms next year, and with my father having shockingly passed at 68 years old, who truly knows how much time we have left?

I am still very much a technology journalist and content creator, appearing on local and global radio stations, featuring each week on a friend's podcast with over 300,000 downloads per month, on YouTube and from time to time on television, and you can follow me on Twitter for more information.

Until then, it has been a pleasure and an honour to serve you, the readers and the viewers, with tech news, views, reviews and interviews over many years, and I’ll continue doing that over on my own channels.

I’ll see you online and genuinely only wish you - and iTWire - the very best.

Onward and upward - and may the force be with you, to infinity and beyond!
