Netflix's first quarter earnings: What Twitter users are saying about the results
Netflix (NFLX) shares swung quite a bit after the streamer reported its first quarter earnings results. Revenue and subscriber growth both came in a little light and were part of the reason why the stock fell as much as 8% in after hours trading. However, by the time company's earnings call was over, the stock was flat and right near where it had ended the trading day. Yahoo Finance's Brad Smith, Seana Smith, and Alexandra Canal were listening to that earnings call...and so were Twitter users. One noted the stock's wild ride, while another brought up the streamer's plan to end its DVD-by-mail service. Nvidia surges to year high after bearish HSBC analyst capitulates
Nvidia's stock jumped to its highest in a year on Tuesday, extending a recent rebound after HSBC flipped its recommendation on the graphics chipmaker to "buy" from "reduce," pointing to opportunities in artificial intelligence. HSBC Head of Technology Research Frank Lee had been the only one among 48 analysts covering Nvdia to have a negative rating on the chipmaker, according to Refinitiv data. Nvidia's 91% rally so far in 2023 makes it the S&P 500's top-performing stock during that time.

Netflix reports a first-quarter burst in subscriber growth
Netflix began the year with another burst in subscriber growth that eclipsed analysts’ projections for the third consecutive quarter, providing further evidence the video streaming service has regained its momentum after a jarring downturn in customers prompted a shake up. The 1.75 million gain in Netflix subscribers reported Tuesday for the January-March period was nearly 550,000 more than the average estimate among among analysts surveyed by FactSet. Although the subscriber increase was smaller than Netflix has historically reported for the first quarter, it was a stark contrast to the loss of 200,000 subscribers that the Los Gatos, California, company sustained at the same time last year.
