Design Monthly Vol. 1
I save a bunch of things each month that I find inspiring for some reason, and I like organized lists, so I figured I’ll share those lists and maybe help someone out of a creative block.
But more importantly, I am trying to push an old idea that inspiration is everywhere if you look with the right mindset. Being a product designer does not mean you can’t draw from architecture, graphic design, or type design. It also does not mean that you can’t draw ideas and inspiration for your project by reading articles, brand stories, or even tweets.
1. Seán Halpin’s portfolio
I was looking at Sean’s amazing portfolio the other day. He has done an amazing job showing his front-end abilities with great taste for engaging visuals. The headline font is great also.
Looking at his portfolio led me to his side project, a plugin that upgrades your project cover on Figma, good for my docs!
Good inspiration for portfolio, typography, composition, and layout.

2. Geneva Boyett’s case study
I think I found this on read.cv and thought that she made a really clear, well-communicated case study with a great, professional thinking process and the visual solution is also very accurate.
Good inspiration for communication, layout, and writing.
3. How to write a good ‘about’ section in your portfolio
Came across this interesting article by Semplice. Not only is it informative and important for designers, but it’s also written in a fun way and is full of examples and portfolio examples.

5. Eye candy landing page
Evervault’s landing page is an eye-catcher for sleek, super modern, and techy web design. Every pixel is placed carefully and a lot of content still looks uncluttered. The state change of the header based on the scroll is absolutely great.
Good inspiration for UI design, color, dark mode design, interactivity and movement.

6. Honest brands are my favorite
Schlatt & CO. website is a very inspiring example of a brand that communicates with confidence and style. Read the sometimes brutal copy writing, look at the non-model photos, and clever naming and tag lines.
the website is very fun as well.
7. The guide for user interviews
’s very comprehensive article about user interviews is all you need to get going in that part of the job. Very well written and covers all the steps and the small things we will probably forget.8. Product and design case study done well
Bakken & Baeck’s case study on their project with Ruter’s mobile app is a well-told story about design decisions and intentions, their reasoning, and where it’s rooted from. Fun and inspiring to read!

9. Super interesting font alert
This free font (The night watch) by Obys Agency is unique, to say the least. I like the presentation and I think that for some specific design direction, this can be a killer font.
