Part of Trump 'loves' the attention he's receiving from indictment: Strategist

A Manhattan grand jury has indicted former President Donald Trump on multiple counts. The charges stem from hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. It marks the first time a former U.S. president has been criminally charged. Yahoo Finance's Dave Briggs and Seana Smith spoke with political strategist and The Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson about the charges. Wilson says the indictment won't change a single vote, adding there's "a part" of Trump that "loves what's happening." Wilson says there is part of Trump that "does not care" about being indicted because "it brought the spotlight back to him." McCarthy Jabs at Biden, Offers ‘Soft Food’ for Debt Limit Talks

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy again called on President Joe Biden to meet with him on the debt limit — only this time he worked in a nasty dig about the 80-year-old president’s age. At a press conference to celebrate the House passage of H.R. 1, Republicans’ energy bill, McCarthy suggested that Republicans might pass legislation to raise the debt limit based on the letter he sent Biden this week, which included a number of broad proposals to cut spending. House Republicans continue to insist that

'War of the states': EV, chip makers lavished with subsidies

States are doling out more cash than ever to lure multibillion-dollar microchip, electric vehicle and battery factories, inspiring ever-more competition as they dig deeper into their pockets to attract big employers and capitalize on a wave of huge new projects. Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas have made billion-dollar pledges for a microchip or EV plant, with more state-subsidized plant announcements by profitable automakers and semiconductor giants surely to come. “We’re in the second war of the states,” said John Boyd, a principal at the Florida-based Boyd Company, which advises on site selections.

US Republicans challenge more fund managers on ESG

(Reuters) -Republican attorneys general from 21 U.S. states raised fresh concerns with asset managers over their consideration for environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in the votes cast at U.S. corporate annual meetings getting under way this spring. The top state legal officers issued their challenge via a letter, provided by the office of Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen on Friday, sent to 53 of the largest U.S. fund firms including BlackRock Inc and the asset-management arms of State Street Corp and JPMorgan Chase & Co. The approach has received backing from Democratic leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, who recently used his first veto to defend a rule on ESG investing.
