3月7日，日本H3火箭在两次延期之后终于发射，然而没多久就出故障了，不得不接受指令坠毁，命运多舛的H3火箭还是首飞失败了。
日本方面已经公布了调查结果， 二级推进系统控制器中检测发动机驱动电压和电流的装置检测到异常，并切断了向下游设备供电，导致二级发动机不能点火。
H3火箭原本被寄予厚望，这是宇宙航空研究开发机构（JAXA）等开发的新型主力火箭，作为H-2系列火箭的继承者，该火箭全长63米、直径5.2米，运载人造卫星的能力被认为是目前主力火箭H2A的1.3倍以上，是日本研发的最强火箭。
H3火箭的单次发射成本将降至50亿日元左右（约3700万美元），仅相当于H2A火箭发射成本的一半，后续会承担一系列日本航天任务。
