We launched PhotoRoom 3 years ago, to become the best background remover everywhere. Now that we remove the background from a photo for more than 50 million users, it only makes sense to regenerate a new, realistic one. Last summer, we stopped the company for a generative AI hackathon.

As you all know, generative AI has moved faster than any company since then. PhotoRoom was lucky to be at the right place and at the right moment. We contributed to the stable diffusion repo to make it 100% faster to give back to the community. We made a few launches, some mistakes and learned which UX and which algorithm work for our millions of users.

Today, we are super proud to have gathered all our technical and product learnings from the past months into Instant Backgrounds. We are the only one to deliver high-quality generative-AI on all platforms iOS, Android, and Web. Whats more, one of the learning is that speed matters, so we made it 10x faster than anyone with hardware acceleration; generating high-quality images takes less than a second

I've seen a few apps try to do this recently, but this one has: - the most realistic results, BY FAR!! - ~1s per render (an order of magnitude faster than the competition) - Best UX (mobile and web) - A super generous Free Tier
