Hey Product Hunt,

I made Shortify as a fun weekend project because I was spending way too much time on my phone. Between Youtube, Apple News, Substack, and Safari — there's just too much content. A lot of existing summarizers force you to use a specific browser, or takes you out of your app, or have weird privacy-invasive trackers. I wanted to make one that's private, intuitive, and works inside every app.

Shortify works in any app that has a share button. Use your apps normally, and when something's too long, just tap Share, then Shortify, and you get a summary that's ~85% shorter — all without leaving your original app.

My favorite use cases: - shrinking 15 minute Youtube videos sent from friends ("you gotta watch this!") - reading "thinkpieces" that have a bit too much history (usually from my RSS reader) - clearing out my backlog of tabs in Safari ("I'll read this one day") - sites/apps that are too cluttered (skips the ads/plugins) - getting the gist of an article before committing to reading it

Shortify is not a subscription. Everyone gets 100 Shorts (credits for summaries) free, and they never expire. How much time could you save? Well, with 1000 Shorts and a reading speed of 238 wpm (Brysbaert 2019), you'll get about 72 hours of your life back for the cost of 2 coffees. 🥳

I learned a bunch building this, and now I actually do use Shortify every day. I hope it saves you time too. So far it's been tested by my friends, but now I'd love to get your feedback. Thanks for hunting! 🩳

Best, Johnny
