A book to learn a logic-driven approach to UI design

Sort by:

Hey Hunters 👋,

Over the last year and a half, I’ve spent literally thousands of hours crafting a UI design book to help anyone design intuitive, accessible, and beautiful websites and apps. It's mostly rules-driven, so should be especially helpful if you're building a product but don't have the luxury of a designer.

Working as a product designer over the last 2 decades, I’ve realised that most of my design decisions were governed by a system of logical rules. Not artistic flair or magical intuition, just simple rules or guidelines.

I wish I’d known these guidelines when I first started out. My hope is that they’ll help you gain years of experience in a matter of hours.

Anxiously, I released my book on social media a few months ago. It was pretty scary to put my ideas out there to be judged. Much to my surprise and relief, I was blown away by positive feedback and 5 star reviews. I’m still a bit anxious about releasing the book to a wider audience, but I’d love to hear your feedback so that I can keep improving it.

🤷‍♀️ Who is the book for? ------------------------ Beginner or intermediate designers, developers, user researchers, or product managers looking to design informed and professional website and mobile applications. While the book wasn’t created for experienced designers, some may find it useful. Especially if you design based on gut feeling and can’t explain why.

📘 The story behind the book ------------------------------ Back in early 2021, I found myself at home on the couch binging Netflix so much that I was running out of shows to watch. I needed a side project to channel my creative energy.

I noticed designers sharing design tips on social media, which I didn’t quite agree with. It seemed like the fundamentals of visual design had been forgotten. Engaging in long social media discussions wasn't very effective, so I started to write down the rules that govern most of my design decisions. I also started creating examples to demonstrate these rules. It was quite a fun and meditative process, so I just kept going.

1.5 years later, I had a 282 page book with hundreds of pixel perfect examples, a landing page, and an email list of over 4,000 people eager to improve their UI designs. Now I’m well outside my comfort zone trying to figure out how to sell the thing. It's my first digital product, so I'd love to hear your advice on how I might improve things.

💰 30% off today only ----------------------- Video courses can cost thousands, making them inaccessible to many. So I decided to create a book instead. To celebrate the launch, I’m offering a 30% discount today only, along with parity pricing for supported countries. There’s also a free preview with 3 guidelines from the book.

Keen to hear your feedback and advice.

Cheers, Adham
