New interesting details on the upcoming iPhone SE 4 are revealed

iPhone SE 4

Apple is reportedly partnering with China-based BOE to supply OLED displays for the upcoming fourth-generation iPhone SE, which is expected to be released in 2024. The news was reported by The Elec, citing sources familiar with the matter. According to the report, BOE will supply around 20 million OLED panels for the low-cost iPhone SE 4 next year.

This move by BOE comes after it reportedly missed the initial volume of OLED panels for this year’s iPhone 15 series due to production issues. Samsung and LG claimed the majority of orders for the OLED panels for the iPhone 15, leaving BOE in a tough spot. However, the company is now looking to make up for it. By focusing on OLED panel production for the iPhone SE 4.

Gizchina News of the week

Interestingly, the iPhone SE 4 will use OLED inventory originally put in place for either the 2021 iPhone 13 or the 2022 iPhone 14. Rather than applying new specifications, it makes sense for Apple to optimize by leveraging component inventory, especially since the iPhone SE 4 is an entry-level product. This information was shared in a machine language translated Korean report.

This is not the first time we are hearing about the fourth generation iPhone SE. In fact, reputable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared information last month about the upcoming device. According to Kuo, the new iPhone SE will have a 6.1-inch OLED display and an Apple-designed 5G chip. He also said that the iPhone SE 4 will be similar to the standard iPhone 14. Which features a 6.1-inch OLED display with thinner bezels. The current SE model has a 4.7-inch LCD display with thicker bezels.

Additionally, reputable display analyst Ross Young also shared information about the iPhone SE 4. Saying that the device will use an OLED panel from BOE. Today’s report from The Elec corroborates this information.

Overall, it seems like the SE 4 is shaping up to be an exciting device. With an OLED display and an Apple-designed 5G chip, it will likely offer a better user experience than its predecessor. And with BOE supplying the OLED panels, it will be interesting to see how the device performs in the market.
