常年受潮的朽木上，偶尔会长出蘑菇，这是我们最常见的真菌生物。
最近热播的《最后的生还者》美剧中，就描摹了真菌感染世界后的可怕图景，其中提到，菌类通过菌丝连接，在地下编织了庞大的通信网络。
这种说法其实并非杜撰，有趣的是，日前来自西英格兰大学UCL实验室的科学家们，就利用真菌的上述特性，把主板上的CPU和内存用蘑菇等真菌取代。
研究员Andrew Adamatzky证实，可以通过菌丝网络来发送、接受和储存电信号，从而模拟传统二进制电脑中的0、1。
